USA partners with Ghana to promote healthier behaviours

The United States of America is partnering with Ghana’s Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service to encourage all Ghanaians to “Live a Good Life!” In 2016, the Ghana Health Service revived the GoodLife brand, a mass media campaign to promote healthy lifestyle messages through television, radio, posters, and brochures.   The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supported the Ghana Health Service to reach 17.5 million people with messages on reproductive health and family planning; nutrition; malaria prevention; maternal, neonatal, and child health; and water, sanitation, and hygiene.   The Ghana Health Service aired 14,900 television and 62,600 radio spots promoting healthy behaviours to improve the health and well-being of Ghanaians.   In 2018, the First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, officially endorsed the “Slice of Life” campaign, lending her powerful voice to the GoodLife brand.   The “Slice of Life” campaign built on the GoodLife campaig

World Premieres of Mitsubishi Motors Mi-Tech Concept buggy-type electrified SUV concept car and Super Height K-Wagon Concept

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) yesterday unveiled the MI-TECH CONCEPT small-sized electrified SUV concept car, MI-Tech Concept, and the Super Height K-Wagon Concept Kei car at Tokyo Motor Show 2019. Takao Kato, chief executive officer, MMC, and Ashwani Gupta, chief operating officer, MMC, presented those vehicles at the press conference and explained MMC’s electrification strategy.   “We are dedicated to electrification technology, particularly plug-in hybrids (PHEVs),” Kato said. “We will be expanding our lineup of electrified vehicles by delivering more variations and leveraging the diverse electrification technology in the alliance to make MMC the leader in the PHEV category going forward.”   Gupta added that MMC plans to employ any of its electrification technologies to new midsize and compact SUV by 2022 as well as Kei car in the near future. A release by the company quoted its Operations Manager, Mr Owusu Yaw Osei- Bobie saying the company's core values imbibed the virtue of giving and it therefore remained committed to supporting institutions such as the Ghana Police Service and other entities which serve as its clientele base. “Due to the fact that we serve the general public, it is important that as an institution we also give back to society. When we got the request, we decided to put it in our CSR plan and make a donation to them,” he said.

Illegal insurance broker busted

Officials of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the National Insurance Commission (NIC) have uncovered the operations of a firm in the act of offering insurance broking services, under the name Zeta Insurance Brokers, without a licence. According to the Commissioner of Insurance - Justice Yaw Ofori, Zeta Insurance Brokers has been in operation for the past five years from the headquarters of the Apostolic Church of Ghana, with the connivance of a direct underwriting company in the country.    The company was busted in February 2019 when it came to the Commission’s attention that some unscrupulous people were operating under the name of Zeta Insurance Brokers - purportedly offering insurance broking services to unsuspecting individuals and companies, mainly in the Greater-Accra Region. BMW Club Ghana have donated exercises books and other stationaries to Obomeng DA Primary School with the aim of helping to ensure that students have materials to learn. It’s in their quest to One Child, One Book (1C1B) Project, the main Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the club to schools. The donation event was held with support from Dreamland Direct Limited who gave out Stars Biscuits as backing.
