Deputy Commissioner advises on what to look out for in motor insurance policies

Michael Kofi Andoh, Deputy Commissioner-National Insurance Commission, has advised the general public on things to watch out for in respect of their Motor Insurance policies. The Deputy Commissioner pointed out these things at the launch of Star Assurance Total Troxy Club collaboration which took place in Accra a fortnight ago. He pointed out five items which include change of ownership, saying if you buy a vehicle from somebody else you cannot use that person’s insurance cover; you need to buy your own cover. He advised that you shouldn’t use an unlicenced driver to drive your car; and more importantly, the driver should use the right licence category to drive. He also pointed out that a change of use for cars should be avoided - indicating that if the car is a non-commercial vehicle, one cannot use it for commercial purposes.
