Enterprise Trustees emerges 17th in Ghana Club 100 rankings

Driver unions endorse move by the NIC to eradicate fake motor insurance

Various driver unions have endorsed the National Insurance Commission’s (NIC) move to implement an electronic Motor Insurance Database (MID) to check the menace of fake insurance stickers and non-insurance.  This came after some national driver unions paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Insurance to lend their support to the initiative by the insurance regulator and also to find out more about it. The Union Executives led by Francis Sallah, expressed their delight at the move as it has been the headache of the national leadership of the of the General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union (GTPCWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) when their members fall victim to this menace due to fake insurance stickers. He bemoaned the situation where some of their unsuspecting drivers are deceived into purchasing cheap motor insurance with stickers which looked exactly like the originals. The Ford Ranger has won the 2020 International Pick-up Award (IPUA) at a special gala ceremony held in Lyon, France. The win for the Ranger was the second for Ford with the Blue Oval also clinching the title for the 2020 International Van of the Year (IVOTY) with the Transit Custom. This means Ford is the only manufacturer to do the double twice – the first time occurring in 2013. GIC Advance Diploma starts again in January

The Chartered Insurance Institute of London (CII), United Kingdom has accorded recognition to the Advance Diploma programme being awarded by the Ghana Insurance College. Richard Okyere- Director, Ghana Insurance College, briefing the media said the GIC will start courses leading to the award of the Advance Diploma from January, 2020. He pointed out that CII UK withdrew its exemption to holders of GIC Advance Diploma in 2014 because they did not agree with the assessment. Adding that, Ghana was not the only country that had the exemptions withdrawn. Okyere admitted that after series of meeting with CII UK Management of recent time, they agreed to reinstate it. Dropping to his knees with arms raised to the skies, Tsawoe Innocent Kofi could not contain himself when he was announced as ‘Overall Best Driver’ for the 2019 Ghana Driver & Road Safety Awards season. Tsawoe, a commercial driver and member of GPRTU at the Madina Station, held his own against about 2000 drivers through a four-stage screening and selection process - and beat 41 finalists to emerge victorious. He drove away a brand-new Suzuki Alto saloon vehicle as the grand prize.
