Vodafone rewards lucky customers with “Akwantuo Aye Free”

Vodafone Ghana, as part effort to reward its cherished customers paid for the transport fares of passengers travelling from various lorry stations in Accra, during the yuletide.
The gesture which forms part of Vodafone’s resolve to help Ghanaians celebrate Christmas, was dubbed “24th akwantuo aye free.”
Apart from paying their transport fares, some passengers walked away with Vodafone branded bags containing food, water and recharge cards.
In all, over 1,500 Vodafone customers benefited from the exercise, which took place at several popular lorry stations across the country, including Neoplan Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Cape Coast and Takoradi Stations at Kaneshie and at the Tudu Ho Station.
According to Ebenezer Ayeampong, Prepositions Manager for Value Service at Vodafone Ghana, the idea was to wish its valued customers a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, as well as to help thousands of Ghanaians celebrate the season with their family and loved ones.
“Vodafone is surprising over 1,500 clients...we are here paying for the fares of our cherished customers and giving them some packages as they travel today to spend time with their loved ones.
“We are doing it as a follow up from something we did last year but this year is bigger and better by touching more people.
“All one needs to do is be a Vodafone subscriber…show a proof of travel ticket and we will just reimburse your money and add a small package to where you’re going.
Mr Akyeampong further explained Vodafone had also made discounts on some items, which were on display at the various stations for clients to buy via Vodafone Cash platform which would allow subscribers buy items and pay at cheap prices.
Kwame Yeboah, a Vodafone subscriber, travelling to Kumasi, expressed his delight at gesture, adding that it was very helpful, since he could buy something with the refunded fare
“I have been using Vodafone for more than five years and I have enjoyed their services throughout the years.
“Today I have been lucky to have my fare to Kumasi reimbursed and received other packages, I had been looking forward to winning something from Vodafone” he said.
Another Vodafone subscriber, Mary Anokyewaa, who has been using Vodafone for the past ten years, said she had been lucky to have her fare paid last two years, “last two years, Vodafone paid for my transportation to Kumasi and refreshed me as well as giving me other packages.”
“I am excited and is my hope and prayer that this customer loyalty continues for years to come, so we feel part of a bigger family, she added.
