EVAG participates in events conference in Nigeria
Two executive members Cee Kudjoe and
Francisco Apenu Cofie of the Event Vendors Association of Ghana (EVAG) have
represented the association at the 7th Association of Professional
Party Organizers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) held in Victoria
Island, Nigeria. The conference which was attended by vendors, planners and
managers in the event industry from all over Nigeria was under the theme: “Collaboration.”
Speaking to newsmen on arrival from the
conference, Francisco Cofie expressed his appreciation to the leadership of
EVAG for choosing them to represent the association at the event describing it
as a wonderful learning experience.
He shared his experience, “Being at the
conference is an eye opener to enable us build a very solid foundation for EVAG
and also drove home the need to work together to protect and support each other
in the event industry having in mind the image of Ghana .”
The three day conference featured
presentations, panel discussions, workshops and climaxed with a dinner dance on
the third night. Some of the topics discussed included Collaboration, Branding,
Customer Satisfaction and Staffing Issues.
Speakers for the conference were drawn from
Planners, Bloggers, Bankers, Decorators, Investors Etc.
Speaking to the theme of the event, various
speakers identified the need for actors in the industry to work together to
grow their own businesses and the industry in general, a lot more could be
achieved by working together than working alone. Various anecdotes and proverbs
were used to illustrate this, for instance, the saying that; “If you want to go
fast, you walk alone, but it you want to go far, you go with others”.
Collaboration is essential in all aspects
of life, be it career, businesses or personal life. It is important to access
who knows you and how to build on those relationships to achieve bigger goals.
To foster collaboration, it is important to network with people and organisations.
These networking platforms and create opportunities to make you and your brand
known to others.
In her closing remarks, the President of
APPOEMN, Gbemisola Opei expressed her excitement about the participation of the
representatives of EVAG adding that APPOEMN is also looking forward to visiting
Ghana with some of their members for a joint conference together. She also
advised vendors and planners to always work and conscientiously to make the
industry attractive to others and show professionalism at all times. New
members were also sworn in to join APPOEMN.
EVAG was formed this year under the
leadership of Kate Hassan and the association is working on upgrading the
skills of event vendors and organizations to improve service delivery and customer
