QLAC CEO lifts Cup

The revamped Ghana Insurers Association games ended at the ultra-modern military sports complex located at Burma Camp a fortnight ago. About 10 different sporting activities were contested for.

The sports contested for included – volleyball, ludo, arm-wrestling, scrabble, draught, tug-of-war, football, drumming (Jama), CEO’s football penalty shoot-out, as well as, ladies’ penalty shoot-out.

At the end, Dr. Issah Anafure – CEO of Quality Life Assurance Company (QLAC), carried the day by scoring all his kicks. He was closely followed by Darlington Munhuwani - CEO of Allianz and Ernestina Abeh – Managing Director, Enterprise Insurance.

Other winners are Volley ball – SIC Insurance, Ludo – Quality Insurance Company, Arm-wrestling – Ghana Union Assurance, Scrabble – WAPIC, Draught – Quality Insurance Company, Ladies penalty – Glico, Tug-of-war – Vanguard Assurance, Jama – Ghana Life, Soccer – Star Life. 
    
The last time GIA organized these games was in 2015. Insurance Industry players had yawned for these game since it came to a stop that year. So the sight of the President of GIA- Madam Aretha Duku and her secretariat team in addition to Mr. Wilson Tei, GIA’s past President, at the grounds as early at 7:00 a.m brought strong hope that the games have come to stay.

Mr. Tei in his address, described the event as a moment of destiny that counts for the industry and a journey towards collaboration and ultimately, the attainment of increased insurance penetration.
