The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) has organised a sod-cutting ceremony to start the construction of a permanent secretariat complex in the Kanda Estate area of the Greater Accra Region.

The sod-cutting ceremony took place last week Tuesday and was attended by Board Members of the GIA and their representatives.

In a brief statement, Madam Aretha Duku-President/Board Chairman of GIA, commended her predecessor’s effort in having the Association in mind by acquiring the land that the industry now wants to utilise.

She said the construction of this ultra-modern structure of enlightenment is expected to be completed in the next two years. She thanked all Board Members who served on the GIA board in the past and present for their vision.

The Commissioner of Insurance, Justice Ofori, congratulated GIA for this laudable project the industry is about to undertake.

Mr. Williams Evans Halm, Principal Architect/CEO of Spektra, did a brief presentation on the design and gave assurance that the building will be concluded within the specified period.

Rev. Florence Benneh Simpson, Minister in-charge of The Vision Presbyterian Church, gave both the opening and closing prayers. The sod-cutting and planting was done by the President of GIA, Aretha Duku, and Commissioner of Insurance, Justice Ofori.
