Chale’ Foundation screen special students
Chale Foundation is a non-profit organisation that is
committed to improving the livelihoods of children with special needs and other
vulnerable groups by providing primary healthcare services – mainly through
medical outreaches, support services, research and advocacy; with support from a strong network of volunteer
medics and professionals.
Over the past 3 years, Chalé
Foundation has provided free and continuous medical screening to children of
Dzorwulu Special School, the Teshie Orphanage, all in Accra and the Aboom
Special School in Cape Coast. Screenings include eye, dental and general health
care. Chale Foundation also has numerous beneficiaries who receive support with
rehabilitation and medical bills.
Chale foundation organised
medical screening for over 120 students and staff of the New Horizon Special
School. This included general health and eye checks.
- mass, height, respiratory rate, blood
pressure and temperature.
- Random Blood Sugar (RBS) of all
school staff.
- Eye tests
Following
the health screening, Chale foundation also gives counselling, referrals and provides
spectacles and drugs for beneficiaries.
Ing.
Kwaku A. Dovlo, Director (Fundraising) said the aim of the organisation is to
provide primary health care to these groups – ‘We envisage a Ghana where there is equity for kids with
special needs, orphans, disabled and other vulnerable populations via
sustainable ways of improving health and other socioeconomic outcomes; Chale foundation is self-funded by
volunteers and Executives with one (1) permanent staff’
‘During
screenings, we solicit the support of well-meaning organizations who have given
much needed support over the years like Speed Medical Centre, Wop3car, Spectacular
Optics, Moore pictures, Kuulpeeps, Ergonomics Consultancy, Inlatis, Arch Image Architectural
consult, Happy-Hub, Remodel IT consult and JSA Consulting Limited.
Mr
Issifu Seidu – Director of Digital Services also added that, Chale foundation
believes in a sustainable model of care thus all beneficiaries are enrolled on
NHIS to guarantee sustainability and continued care.
Chale
foundation would like to solicit support from corporate institutions as well as
individuals to provide care and support for such vulnerable groups.
