Oliver Akubia appointed Managing Director of Millennium Insurance
Oliver
is an astute and result oriented Insurance Practitioner with over 13 years working
experience in the Ghanaian insurance industry.
He
has, within the period, worked with reputable insurance companies in areas of
Underwriting Reinsurance, Claims, Risk Management and Business Development.
Prior
to his appointment with Millennium Insurance Company, on the 3rd of
September, 2019, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Provident Insurance Company
Ltd from 2015 to 2019.
In
this capacity, he had the responsibility of handling the entire operations of
the company ranging from Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Marketing, Risk Management,
IT and Business Development.
His
excellent performance led to the growth and profitability of the company within
the four-year period.
Mr.
Akubia started his insurance career in February 2008, with CDH Insurance
Company as an Underwriting Officer with responsibility of advising,
formulating, interpreting and implementing underwriting policies for the company
with emphasis on supervising front line underwriting to ensure quick response
to clients.
In
March 2009, however, he moved to Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) as the
Tema Branch Manager where he served in various Underwriting and Marketing
roles. Oliver was later appointed as Head of Technical Operations in the same company
from 2010 to 2012. In this role, he
helped formulate prudent underwriting policies along with development and
implementation of strategic claims policy for the organisation.
Due
to his excellent performance at IGI, he was poached by the then, Colina Ghana
Insurance Company, now Saham Insurance in September, 2012 as the Head of
Technical Position and later rose to become the Deputy General Manager,
Operations.
Apart
from his stints in Insurance, Oliver has working experience in Sales and
Marketing having worked with the then Millicom Ghana Ltd as a Sales Liaison.
